A Page For Jeff

Okay, Jeff, so you think you're ready to do your own web page, huh? The good news is that it really isn't that hard and there are some really neat programs out there on the 'net' to help you make a great page. So-o, let's get started.

There are a couple of things you have to decide before you begin to create your page.
- What will be your theme?
- What will be the name of your homepage?
- What kinds of images are you going to use and where are you going to get them?
- Who will be your audience?
- Where are you going to put your page?
That will be enough of that for a while-let's get going!
You know you will want some images on your page, so it is a good idea to go get them now. Here are a few of my favorite sites to visit for clipart and with a good variety.
A Plus Art
-Lots and lots of good stuff.
Debbie's Animated Gifs
-Here are 177 pages of animation.
Icon BAZAAR
-Symbols and Gizmos & More.
The 123...Easy HTML Guide
Check out their "graphics".
RGB Color Chart
-this will help you pick out your colors.
That should keep you busy for a while, but if you need more image links go to
Cyndi's Genealogy Construction Toolbox
and scroll down until you find her graphics section. There are tons of sites listed there.
Keep in mind...animation and graphics are COOL, but don't overload your pages or your page will take too long to load and viewers will move on to easier pages.
Design was mentioned above. It's a good idea to check out what others are doing, so go check these sites out.
Internet for Kids
Chez Michelle Kids Page
NPAC Kid's Web
-You will find some helpful facts here.
Web-Search
-Lots of kids pages to check out.
You can register your new page here when you are all done creating.
OK...we put the dog out, so our break is over. Back to work. Now that you have all of those really neat graphics you need a really good program to help sort them out. Go get this:
Graphics Workshop
The 'best' graphics program around.
This page was created with Web Page Wizard...a really easy to use program that does all of the work for you and lets you see your page line by line as you create. This is a download site.
wpw200.zip
1540K
ftp.simtel.net
or try
wpw200.zip
1540K
ftp.digital.com
Now you've got your page all ready and you need to get it on the web. Web Page Wizard offers you a site. But if you want to use a different one you will need a program to upload your page. Here's a super little user-friendly program to do that for you.
Cute FTP
Have you figured out yet where you are going to put your page? Well, there is a really neat place at Geocities called the Enchanted Forest and you can get a FREE web page there. They also have lots of good sites in their kid's neighborhood with Pen-Pals, Cartoons, Cyberpets, Games, Graphics, and a lot more. Try it out.
Geocitie's Enchanted Forest
You should be all set now to create a fantastic kid page. When you get it all done e-mail me with your site address.
