Christian led the wagontrain that first came to Pawnee County, was the wagonmaster. Christian located his claim 14 April 1854, as the first settler of Pawnee County, NE. Vol. He was on detached duty in the Texas Panhandle 26 Aug 1862 and Nov 1862. Mustered out Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas 9 Dec 1864. Enlisted 27 Sep 1861 in Denver, Colorado. Mustered in 1 Dec 1861 in Denver by Captain Backuss. He was a guide for wagon trains from Nebraska to Colorado. Called "Honest Bill". Daughter, Margaret, also called Maggie. 1870 census, P.O. Her mother also told her that he had been an Indian scout and had been a wagonmaster, leading wagon trains from southeast Nebraska to Colorado Springs, CO. He always loved Colorado.
